A Weekend in Tofino
A few days before Thanksgiving in 2016, I received an email about a last minute trip to Tofino, BC. The company was looking to fill a vacant spot for a 3 day trip that would start the next morning. Making the spontaneous decision, I packed up my truck and drove the 7 hours to Port Angeles where I would hop on a ferry the next morning that would take me to Victoria, BC. I hadn't spent much time in Canada, and this would be my first time on Vancouver Island, so I was ecstatic.
The next three days blew my expectations out of the water. We dealt with some temperamental weather the entire trip, but that didn't dampen our spirits as we hiked through lush rainforests, took a floatplane to a hot spring that was tucked into the woods and jutted right up to the ocean, rode a boat on some incredibly choppy water that caused us to go airborne more than once, saw whales and sea otters, kayaked during sunset, and even surfed in the freezing cold water of the Pacific.
A huge thanks to Share Vancouver Island and Tourism Tofino for making the trip possible and for taking such amazing care of us. If you're looking for things to do in Tofino, I've provided a few links below for where we stayed and the companies we went on tours with.
